Yes, experienced a little trouble getting back into my routeen of early morning runs after the half marathon. I think my body was just telling me what my head was not willing to hear. I needed a break. did not run for an entire weeek after the las vegas half marathon. felt a little guilty about it in the last couple of days. This morning i sprang out of bed and hit the road with the intention of just doing an easy three miles and getting back to what i enjoy so much about running. time to meditate and fine tune my plan of world domination! it was god to get out again. hit the weights afterward for a quick fifteen minute upper-body circut session. now im really feeling good about my start to the day and getting out of the slump of feeling guilty for missing my workouts! going to check around for some local races leading up to the Whidbey Island Marathon. training should start for that soon!

well just got back from my vacation. where did i go you ask? cyberspace! i spent the last week working on my graphic novel & the perils of getting it posted to the internet. after four years of procrastination i finnally have my website up! man it feels great! i also used my week off to get back on track with my fitness routeen. its amazing how the freedom from having to be to work in the morning affected my motivation. for last week i posted 43.44 miles @ a pace of 8′55″ per mile for a total of 6 days of running. during that same week i got in 5 cardio workouts. so 6 & 5 felt realy good and snapped me out of the funk i was in. now im back to the grind and trying to find a schedule that will be managable with everything i HAVE to do. thats the beauty of it right? i think my biggest problem is getting to bed early enough so i can wake up in the morning without the urge to hit the dreaded snooze bar. the single biggest obstacle to my fitness goals. well i wil share my new web address with everyone when i get some more content up. now i only have the first few pages. stay at it everyone & don’t fall victom to the diabolicle snooze bar!!!

so yea, the best week of the year came at the end of 2007 for me. Dec 24th - 30th. during this week i made every run, (5) bumped up my daily from 5 to 6 miles (mid way thru) and finished off the week with a twelve mile run that i was able to average 9 minutes a mile on. my pace for the entire week was 8:51 per mile for 34.8 miles. and three out of five cardio circut workouts. then came the new year and disaster!! yes afraid so! i got sick with a fever, head cold, headache tri fecta! missed the entire week of working out and felt like total crap! stated feeling a little better on Saturday and got one run / workout in. and felt weak after that. sunday was a good rest recovery day and this morning i got up feeling pretty good. ready to try and break my best week ever record with a good start. 6 miles today with an average pace of 8′05″ per mile and a good 15 minute cardio circut workout. going for 5&5 we shall see!

Really tired when i got up this morning. the temp outside was 29. didnt seem that bad when i got out there. was not going to push today, just run an easy 5 but after the first mile i found myself settleing into what i thought was a 9 minute mile pace. Ended up finishing with 8:44 per mile. did some streatching at the park and decided to do a little cool down jog home. set my ipod for one mile and hit it. felt really good. think im going to continue this routine. so my miles are bumped up to 6 a day but broken up a bit. my circut workout afterwards went really well also. added pull-ups to the mix. 15 minutes of blast furnace intensity. felt a little like yacking after my last set. i have heard that is a good thing. left the house feeling like i gave myself a chance to do my best today!

Well the chaos of Christmas is behind me and i think i did pretty good with my runs/workouts during the busy season. a friend was telling me about his minutes per mile that he was hitting on the treadmill at the gym and i have to admitt my compeditive nature got a little sparked. untill now i have been content with the 9:30-45 minute miles i have been logging in because my focus has been on distance and consistancy. started to push a bit on monday and was able to pull my times down to 8:32 per mile for five miles on monday. thinking i would just show up for tuesday and take it easy i came in with 8:54 per mile for five. felt really good and with my pace bumped up i was still able to forget that i was pushing and fall into my meditation and daydreaming that makes my runs so enjoyable. Monday i was a rap producer crafting songs that redefined the music world and tuesday i was at a gallery opening of my artwork with the biggest names in hollywood clamoring for the opportunity to buy my work! thoughts that really put a spring in my step when im on the road. my monday workout was pretty tough and still pretty sore on tuesday i skipped. this morning i woke up to sunlight in my window and realized i left my phone on silent from the night before and my 5am alarm was helpless to do its bidding. tonight after work i hit the road and the weights after that. tomorrow is a rest day and on january first im quitting the smokes! wish me luck & heres to a safe and happy new year everyone!!!

Monday and Tuesday were both solid. five mile runs with a good workout afterwards. Wednesday was supposed to be an on day but i took it off. Thursday, solid another 5 miles and a good workout afterwards. Friday was another slack day but made up for it on saturday with a 10 mile run. really felt good. just on the verge of going straight into another workout afterwards but i got distracted with trying to put together my new pull up bar in my door jam. before i knew it i was late for a meeting so that was the week. just over 25 miles and three good workouts. wow did i feel good after the 10 mile run on saturday. my goal was five runs and five workouts but i will settle for 25 miles and three workouts. now i have something to improve on! hamstring is feeling much better and feeling much stronger on the ling distances. Happy Holidays everyone. heres to an awsome 08!!!!

A friend of mine calls me up last night right before bed time. her voice was strained on the other end. she asked if i had time to meet and talk. when you have the kind of friends i do you understand that reguardless of your plans or the schedule you have set for yourself, sometimes the word no just doesn’t apply. so another late night and my hamstring still bothering me a bit. i have to admit, knowing that i took yesterday off was the most motivating factor to getting me out the door at 5am and on my run. and what a beautiful morning it was. Living in vegas you get used to certain things. the heat, the lights and the smell of dirt. its always in the dry desert air and saturates your sences. when you smell a flower it smells like a flower & dirt. perfume? perfume & dirt. u get the point. every so often mother nature sees fit to bless this dust bowl with a hint of moisture in the air. and man do i appreciate it. this was such a morning. closeing my eyes and pulling in deep breaths on my run i could have been anywhere in the world. anywhere other than a desert. away from the expectatins of the season and my crazy family. away from shopping for just the right gift so i can cram more debt onto my credit cards. away from the pressures and uncertaintys of work. for forty five minutes this morning i was away from all those things. i was on a beach in california, or running around the waterfront of a lake in seattle. when i got back to my house and turned my ipod off the things that i returned to seemed a little less troublesome. a little more manageable. the good news is i get to do it again tomorrow.

so im out on my run yesterday and my left hamstring starts yelling at me. easy five miles at about 9:22 per mile. i push through it, because thats what i do. about a mile later its fine and the pain is gone. later that day its getting sore and im favoring it a bit when i walk. got to bed late lastnight & decided to move my rest day from thursday to today just to give this hamstring thing time to play itself out. not really hurting today but i can feel it. still sore. any sudgesstions out there? i am determined to get out tomorrow but would like to avoid a serious injury if i can. holla back!!!

yes, i finished my first week back with 18 miles for the week. three workouts and a few impuls purchaces from the sporting goods store. isnt it great how you go out shopping for people on your christmas list and end up finding all this really cool stuff that you NEED! im thinking we have this whole christmas thing backwards. we should just go out and buy some stuff we really want & send money to the people we love. (to recoup the money they spent buying stuff they really wanted.) i realize that the spirit an the surprise and all those things may be lacking from my plan but hey, my budget is so tight i cant help but think about the all mighty dollar rather than that christmas spirit thing. so elusive, like a fart in the wind. anyway im feeling really great about hitting the pavement again. started this week right with a nice easy 5 miles today. about a 9:44 pace. lost in thought of plans and the events of the weeknd. good meditation. at that pace i really dont even realize im doing something really great for my health and attitude. tomorrow is another easy 5 and i push on wednesday. im going for 5 miles at 8:30 per mile. we will see how that feels.

woke up half an hour before my alarm went off & got a couple extra layers for my run. temp in the low 40s. Sticks felt a little sore from the 4 miles yesterday but once i got warmed up everything was good. another 4 miles today. thought about alternateing my run & workout days to give my body ample time to rest but im more concerned with just getting back into my routeen for now. will work on tweaking things later. good 15 min circut session with the weights afterward. today was bench press, leg lifts & shoulder presses. felt great on my way to work. feeling like myself again.
